Arcade Games |
Here I document and offer up the fruits of my tinkering in arcade games.
Cabinets
These are modeled in FreeCAD. The idea is to provide people with an
easy-to-follow method of cutting out plywood to create these cabinets.
Actual documentation for doing that can be found at other sites linked
from here. Soon I will host them here.

Midway Ms Pacman / Galaga Cocktail Table Cabinet

Midway's cocktail table cabinets are some of my favorite cabinet
designs. This design is best known for housing Ms Pacman and Galaga.
I based this on documentation created by Kyle Lindstrom. Here are his
plans for shaping the pieces.
Here are his instructions
for putting it together. Here are some
photos of a cabinet made by Chris
Moore from these plans and instructions.

Midway Pacman Cocktail Table Cabinet

This cocktail table cabinet design was primarily used for housing
Pacman. I based the model, again, on Kyle Lindstrom's excellent work.
Its original design was rather complex and included "a very complex
corner that would be extremely difficult to manufacture at low cost.".
Kyle reworked the construction to resemble that of the simplified Ms
Pacman cocktail cabinet, while still looking like the original Pacman
cabinet.
When I started work on this, I had trouble finding a legible copy of Kyle's
PDF containing dimensions of the parts. So here are the
plans for shaping the pieces and the instructions for putting it together.

This is a somewhat rare cocktail cabinet.
This model was based on documentation by various people, which I found at
https://www.classicarcadecabinets.com/joust-cocktail.html.
There is still a lot of work to be done.

This is a model of one of Nintendo's earliest cabinets most popularly
known for housing Donkey Kong. It was also used for Radar Scope, Donkey
Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3, and Popeye among others. Variants were used
for Mario Bros and the Vs series of games.
This model was based on documentation by various people, which I found
at https://www.classicarcadecabinets.com/donkey-kong.html.
It is not yet complete.

This is a very nice resource for all sorts of arcade game documentation.
Also hosts the Killer List of Videogames (aka KLOV). There's a forum
there for discussing the same.

FreeCAD is a free and open-source 3D parametric modeler that I use for
creating models of, among other things, arcade game cabinets. It is
