Minimoog Notes 03: Parts |
Sunday August 1, 2010
A significant complication of replicating a nearly 40-year-old device is that many components have gone out of production and therefore are very hard to find. Here is a list of part substitutions. If I decide to implement the third version of the oscillator board, I'll need to find a substitute for the Fairchild uA726 temperature-compensated transistor pair. According to this post, it can be replaced with a THAT 300 quad NPN transistor package. I haven't heard of THAT corporation until I stumbled across the above post on electro-music.com. The chip is easily available from Mouser.
